Florence Farmborough was an
author ess, a photographer, and a nurse.Early Biography
She originally went to live in
Russia in 1908, and worked as a governess for a family inKiev . She then moved toMoscow where she worked for aheart surgeon . She worked as a reporter for the Times, and for BBC Radio, and worked as aRed Cross nurse on the Russian Front during the Great War. During her time as a nurse she took a large plate camera with her and would develop and print her plates while encamped with the forces.Later Biography
She returned to
England in 1918, kept a diary, and wrote a number of articles for "The Times ". She was made a Fellow of theRoyal Geographical Society , and took part in theSpanish Civil War , later returning to England for theBattle of Britain . in 1974, she was the subject of a programme "English Nurse With The Tsar's Army" in theBBC Television documentary series "Yesterday's Witness "Bibliography
