José Cláudio Carvalho da Silva, commonly known as Cláudio (born 28 July 1989, in Petrolina, Pernambuco), is a Brazilian football player at the position of striker. He played for Palmeiras B.
Although his height is only 1.75 m, Claudio is a powerful striker, with a strong ability to push defenders aside as he runs. He is difficult to catch when sprinting.
He has been described as a mixture of Ronaldo and Romario, showing light footedness, swiftness, acceleration, burst power, technique, strength, and excellent shooting. Some have said he might become the best striker in the world. fact|date=January 2008
Cláudio has been capped two times by the Brazilian U-21 team.
After serving a trial at Latvian club Skonto Riga for three months, he signed for the club, along with another young prospect Luiz Carlos Caetano de Azevedo Júnior.
