"Calliostoma osbornei" is a species of medium-sized sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusc. Some authors have placed this genus in the family Calliostomatidae, other malacologists have left it in the family Trochidae.

Distribution

This species is endemic to New Zealand. It is found along the east coast and offshore islands of the North Island.

Habitat

This top snail is found at depths of about 50 m.

hell description

The shell of this species is of moderate size, solid, similar to "Calliostoma punctulatum", but narrower, with a very tall spire, straight outlines, and more numerous whorls, with only six granose spiral cords.

The external shell coloration is yellowish-brown, with the spiral cords being dark reddish-brown between whitish gemmules.

The shell height is up to 32 mm, and the width is up to 26 mm.
