There was also one group and one individual sent to all state. The Speech department also put on the play "Rogers & Hammerstein's Cinderella" in Fall of 2007. They perform a play each fall, alternating between musical and comedy.
Athletics
Aurelia has also produced successful athletic teams. The football team produced a 7-3 record in 2007, before bowing out in the first round of the state
Eight-man football playoffs to 2005 state champ Glidden-Ralston High School. It was Aurelia's fifth appearance in the state playoffs in seven seasons, making them one of the most successful 8-Man schools in Iowa's first eight years of 8-Man football. They accomplished this by defeating both the eighth-ranked Odebolt-Arthur and the top-ranked, undefeated Alta basketball teams to win their district and advance to sub-state, where they lost to eventual 3rd place at state, Wall Lake View Auburn. The AGH Wrestling team went 27-3 in duels and advanced to the State Duel Tournament for the first time in school history. The boys track team had one athlete make it to state in 3 different individual events in 2008.
Miscellaneous
*The current Aurelia High School building was built in 1962.
*A current issue at Aurelia Community Schools is declining enrollment. Although, Aurelia has very nice facilities and has no financial problems, Aurelia is on the verge of sending the school district to a nearby school because of the wide variety of curricula for which the teachers are responsible.
*After the Class of 2008 Leaves there will be less than 75 Students at the end of the 2007-2008 school year the football coach (Myron Radke), band director (Jason Heren), HS Principal (Dave Hickman), and the superintendent (Tom Vint) are leaving. As are the 2nd grade teacher (Sue Radke), HS math and tech teacher (Tim Limbert), and MS english teacher (Kim Vint).References
