punk rock band which is very popular among the younger generation.Tankcsapda was formed in 1989, in Hungary, Debrecen. The formation (drums, bass, guitars) started off as a run-of-the-mill punk band, but continuously expanded their repertoire with different elements of rock music. Following small venue performances and albums in the early years, the first milestone came in 1995, with the release of their fourth album, "Az ember tervez" ("Man plans..."). which has become the first ever gold record for the band. From this moment on the band has never looked back.Ever since 1996, Tankcsapda has been voted “Band of the Year” a number of times by readers of music magazines of all styles, from pop to rock. In the past 8 years their albums have won “Album of the Year” awards and have reached gold and platinum status. The band loves touring and they have been headlining the biggest Hungarian festivals for the past 10 years, as well as having toured in various other European countries, making them known for their energetic live performances. In 2003, the have finally crossed over to the mainstream big time, with the release of their "Élni vagy égni" album, and two singles off this record: "Be vagyok rúgva" ("I'm Drunk") and "Örökké tart" ("Lasts Forever"). The latter is a unique rock ballad, appealing to all audiences, yet devoid of the usual clichés and "cheesiness" often - rightly or wrongly - associated with the power ballad format. The band's popularity is duer in large part to the iconic figure and thoughtful lyrics of frontman László Lukács, who has a rare God-given ability present in only those few true rock stars, who manage strike a chord with the audience continually and each time again and again, on all different levels: musically and spiritually. Their straightforward , no-nonsense melodic punk-rock, not a million miles from the route originally treaded by the band Motörhead is craftily combined with down to earth, yet thought provoking lyrics reeking of reality from beginning to end. This credibility allows the band to venture into somewhat different directions on each album, while keeping their original message intact. After the mainstream-breaking album of 2003 and the very successful compilation that followed, they took a left turn and released one of their heaviest albums to date, "Mindenki vár valamit" ("Everyone Expects Something"), succeeded by a live album "Elektromágnes". Their next album is due sometime in 2009.Discography
