December 29 ,1937 inYazoo City, Mississippi -March 30 ,1990 inCanton, Mississippi ) was aRoman Catholic nun , teacher, and scholar.Born Bertha Bowman she converted to theRoman Catholic Church and joined theFranciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration ofLa Crosse, Wisconsin . She was educated atViterbo University in La Crosse,Catholic University of America , andBoston College , and was a scholar ofWilliam Faulkner .
