RockFood

RockFood

"RockFood" is a free music magazine published in Leicester, UK.

RockFood's stated aims are to cover and support the leicester music scene and to promote new music from across the country within the city.

History

Although RockFood Music had been in existence since 2003 as an alternative music promotions company, The RockFood fanzine was only available in an online form from March 2006, and the first printed edition was published in early 2007. The magazine's popularity has grown rapidly, with circulation growing from 700 to 3000 within eight months.

Features

*Interviews,
*live reviews (including those of unsigned, national and international level bands)
*Album Reviews
*Demo Reviews.
*Artist Features
*Nightlife
*Culture.

Finance

RockFood's articles are written by a voluntary group of staff, with printing costs financed by small amounts of advertising revenue. Until August 2007 RockFood was financed entirely by advertising for Leicester Square Ltd., but since this date it has become entirely independent - principally (and surprisingly) because of their desire to switch to recycled paper stock, which due to printing constraints was not possible with the previous backers. Distribution is managed by a voluntary promotions team.

Readership

The readership is currently thought to be around 4,000 throughout Leicester and the surrounding area.
