"Cantharidus opalus cannoni" is a subspecies of medium sized sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusc in the family Trochidae, the top snails.

Distribution

This subspecies is endemic to New Zealand's Chatham Islands.

Habitat

This top shell lives on giant kelp.

hell description

The shell of this subspecies is similar to "Cantharidus opalus opalus", except that it is always much broader, with concave upper spire whorls and an inflated body whorl.

The shell height is up to 42 mm, and the width is up to 33 mm.
