Gaajula

Gaajula is a Telugu word meaning "bangles". It's a common surname in many communities, especially in Andhra Pradesh, India.

It is possible that the surname was adopted by business men who traded in bangles. Trading of bangles was considered a dignified profession and the community was looked up to. One of the reasons could be because the men would hold the hands of women in helping them try the bangles, an act which would normally be considered a taboo.
