Biography

Early life

Juan Stopper Sanchez, was born in Camagüey, Cuba, in 1941.From 1960 to 1962 studied at the Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas "San Alejandro" Havana. Later he did art studies in the Escuela Nacional de Arte(E.N.A) Havana, Cuba

Individual Exhibitions

In 1964 he presented a personal exhibition in the Galería Provincial de Camagüey, Cuba. In 1968 he made "Stopper. Gouaches, Drawings and Lithographies". Gallery of Havana and in 1983 exposes " “Juan Stopper. Black Mysticism” ". Latin Intar American Gallery, New York, U.S.A. In 1984 his art exhibited in the Museum of African Americans, Buffalo, New York, U.S.A. In 1990 presented "Juan Boza's World" in the Ollantay Gallery, New York, U.S.A

Collective exhibitions

Making a selection of the collective exhibitions in which he tooked part we can mention "1960 Freedom for Siqueiros". Seguro Médico Building.In 1970 exposed in "Salón 70". Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Havana and in 25 Latin American Engravings. Gallery Pablo Picasso, Mexico, D.F and in IV the American Biennial of the Engraving. Santiago de Chile. In the year 1975 participated in 9th. International Print Biennial. Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, Japan.En 1983 appeared in Sixth Biennial of San Juan of the Latin American Engraving. Arsenal of Navy, San Juan, Puerto Rico. In 1984 was in Third LatinAmerican Graphic Art Biennial.

Death

He died in the city of New York, U.S.A in March , 1991

Awards

In his race he has obteined prizes like in 1967 "Portinari Prize" in Lithography. Exhibition of Havana 1967, Latin American Gallery, Casa de Las Américas, Havana. In 1968 Prize. National saloon of drawing, Galería de La Habana, in 1969.
