Brian O'Shea (born December 1944) is an Irish Labour Party politician. He is currently the Labour Party Spokesperson for Community, Rural & Gaeltacht Affairs.
O'Shea was born in Waterford and educated at Mount Sion C.B.S. Waterford and St. Patrick's Training College, Drumcondra. He worked as a teacher before entering into full time politics. O'Shea was elected to Seanad Éireann in 1987. Two years later, in the 1989 general election he was elected to Dáil Éireann for the first time as a TD for the Waterford constituency in the 26th Dáil. In 1993 O'Shea became Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture (with special responsibility for Food and Horticulture). In 1994 he was appointed Minister of State at the Department of Health (with special responsibility for Mental Handicap, Public Health and Food Safety). He has previously served as Party spokesperson on Education in both the Dáil and Seanad.
