Jo Wheeler (born 1963,
Manchester ) is an Englishweather forecaster who currently works forSky News .Her father and uncle worked in the broadcasting industry. She spent a short time at drama school.
Before joining Sky, she had spells working for
Central Television as acontinuity announcer from 1983 andEast Midlands Today as one of its first weather presenters when it was launched in 1991. She was also voted Best European Weather Presenter. She joined Sky in 1994.Jo Wheeler lives in
Portugal with her husband and five children, and commutes to the UK-based Sky News Centre inIsleworth on a weekly basis to present the weather. Because of this, she acted as a live reporter inPraia da Luz during the initial coverage of thedisappearance of Madeleine McCann before journalists arrived fromLondon .She married Richard Edwards in April 2000 in Cheshire. They moved to Portugal in 2002 (being disillusioned with Britain and discipline in the state education system) and have had a daughter (born July 1999) and son (born December 2001) together. Jo has two daughters, one named Georgia, (born December 1990) and another born in July 1994. She also has a son (born March 1992). These children are from a previous relationship, and live with their father in Lincoln, although they attend boarding school.
