Northern Dancer , Secretro's damsire was the U.S. Triple Crown champion, Secretariat. He was bred byE. P. Taylor at the Maryland branch of hisWindfields Farm . He was purchased by Luigi Miglietti and trained in Ireland by David O'Brien.In the 1984
Epsom Derby , Secreto defeated the odds-on favouriteEl Gran Senor , who was also by Northern Dancer,trained by David O'Briens's father Vincent, by a short-head.
