John Bowe (author)

John Bowe (born 1964 in Minnesota) is an author who has contributed to "The New Yorker", "The American Prospect", "GQ" and "This American Life", [ [http://www.nytimes.com/2006/11/19/magazine/19fathering.html?partner=rssnyt&emc=rss Gay Donor or Gay Dad? - New York Times ] ] and has published two books with Random House. [ [http://www.randomhouse.com/author/results.pperl?authorid=42644 John Bowe - Authors - Random House ] ] He graduated from Minneapolis' The Blake School in 1982 [ [http://www.blakeschool.org/blakeAlumni/bulletin/05july/page12.html The Blake School: Bulletin, July 2005-12 ] ] , obtained an honors BA in English from the University of Minnesota in 1987 and earned an MFA in film from the Columbia University School of the Arts in 1996. He co-wrote the screenplay for the film "Basquiat" with Julian Schnabel [ [http://www.margolis.com/award/html/2003_-_john_bowe.htm 2003 - John Bowe ] ] , and got into freelance journalism to make money while working on screenplays. Bowe is also the co-founder of word.com.

Bowe appeared on the Daily Show on September 24, 2007 to talk about his new book, "Nobodies", which examines slavery in modern America.
