Shimoni Demonstration Primary School and Teacher Training Centre was a primary school and teacher training college located in central Kampala, Uganda, established in 1954.
The institution was relocated to East Kololo primary school in 2006 where its still located(2008), and the land it occupied was sold to an investor in order to build a luxury hotel. Parents, pupils and teachers unsuccessfully protested against the move. It had been suggested that the hotel was a project of the country's programme to host the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting of 2007, however President Museveni denied this in his State of the Nation address. The school housed a very large number of students.It had a population of over 10,000 pupils from Primary one to seven. The school was started by Indians but the infrastructures were damaged during Amin's regime when he expelled the Indians from Uganda. The school also catered for needs of special children those who were mentally disabled and had special classes & rooms for them. After they were confirmed that they mental stability was better, they would then be promoted to Primary one to study with other normal students and they did excel.
