During the 2007/08 season Bangor RFC withdrew from the
WRU Division Five East in the hope the club could restructure itself in the hope the team could come back as a more competitive organisation. The previous two season had seen Bangor fail to win a single league match. The withdrawal was agreed to be a 12 month hiatus and the team were expected to return to the WRU league structure for the 2008/09 season.
