- Trey Waltke
Trey Waltke (born
March 16 ,1955 ) is a former American tennis pro fromLos Angeles, California whose career spanned more than a decade during the 1970s and 1980s. Although often going up against players as an underdog, he is one of the few players to beatJohn McEnroe andJimmy Connors in the same year. During a first round match at Wimbledon in 1983 againstStan Smith , Waltke caused a stir when instead of traditional tennis garb he wore white long flannel pants, a white buttoned-down long-sleeved shirt, and a necktie for a belt. He beat Smith in five sets but lost toIvan Lendl in the second round.
