Tex Corp is an Indian manufacturing company that manufactures zippers, sliders and other fastening products. Tex is a much smaller company than any other manufacturer of zippers, Tex's manufacturing is largely done in India, but they supply their zippers world-wide. Tex adheres to the standard published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

Background

Tex was formed in New Delhi, India in 1987 by a group of Indian Institutes of Management alumni. Tex Corp is still a privately held company being managed by the same group of people who formed it. The company was moved in the early 1990s to a then developing suburb of Delhi called Gurgaon for more manufacturing space. Recently, Tex Corp has set up a manufacturing unit in Roorkee in the state of Uttarakhand.

Tex's key competitors include Zee zippers, Angel, Shaktimann and other local zipper brands.

Trivia

When formed, Tex Corp was called "GAPPS Industries, Limited". GAPPS was an acronym that stood for the first names of each of the founders. "Tex" was then the primary zipper brand of GAPPS. The name was changed from GAPPS to Tex recently to avoid confusion with The Gap clothing company.
