Philips NORbits

Philips NORbits

The 60-series NORbit is a very early form (1960's) of digital logic developed by Philips that uses modules containing discrete components to build logic building blocks. There are three basic types contained in a large (one by two inch) 17 pins Dual in-line package, with nine pins on one side and eight pins on the other side. There were different logic functions available and each function was recognizable by the color of its plastic container, black, blue, red or green. The most important block contained A NOR port (hence the name), but there were also blocks containing drivers, and a timer circuit resemblant of the later 555 timer IC.
