ubculture
Considering family culture, there are contrasting trends, ranging from intellectual conservative [ Ulama ] to highly educated liberals, educators, fashionable women artists and reformers with progressive outlook. The members of the original family include scholars, philosophers, architects, artists, medical doctors with a broad range of education from the United States, Europe and Iran. Inherent conservatism comes from the fact that they contributed a lot to the Islamic intellectual clergy during recent centuries. These clerics mostly had prominent social status. Furthermore western liberal trend of family comes from their old money/wealth, their long lineage going back to the Seljuq Dynasty of the 13th. century as well as the Qajars and their social status in modern Tehran. But still there are some affinities among them like sense of family bond, political and religious tolerance, absence of fundamentalist trends and tendency toward progress.
