Joseph Robert Goeke (born
Kentucky , 1950) is ajudge of theUnited States Tax Court .Goeke received his B.S., cum laude, from Xavier University in 1972, and his
J.D. from theUniversity of Kentucky College of Law in 1975, where he was inducted into theOrder of the Coif .He worked as a trial attorney for the
Internal Revenue Service from 1975-1988, for five years inNew Orleans and then inCincinnati , earning two promotions. He then left public service to become a partner, in thelaw firm of Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw, inChicago .On April 22, 2003, Goeke was appointed by President
George W. Bush as Judge, United States Tax Court, for a term ending April 21, 2018.Bar memberships
