Prophecies of Beautiful Regression is the fourth studio album from The Deadweights, released August 4, 1987, on Slash Records. The album was re-released on CD in 1990.

Reception and break up

The album is noted for its negative reception from fans and critics alike. The sound on the album takes a much more experimental approach than any of the band's prior work, and would remain much more diverse and experimental than the band's future albums. The biggest example of this is the final track, "A Manifesto on the World", a 7 minute spoken word piece. White Jimmy looks back on this album as a "terrible attempt at breaking ground".

On the following tour, the band, which was already in constant conflict, finally had enough, and broke up halfway through touring.
