coastal minesweeper acquired by theU.S. Navy for the dangerous task of removing mines from minefields laid in the water to prevent ships from passing.World War II service
"Chachalaca" was launched on
11 June 1941 by the Bristol Yacht Building Co., SouthBristol, Maine . She was placed in service on11 September 1941 and assigned to the10th Naval District where she performed minesweeper duties.Post-war deactivation

4 January 1946 she was placed out of service and stricken on8 May of that year.References
