National Alliance to End Homelessness

The National Alliance to End Homelessness is a United States based organization addressing the issue of homelessness. The Alliance provides data and research to policymakers and elected officials in order to inform policy debates and educate the public and opinion leaders nationwide.

In March of 2011, the Alliance partnered with 26 leaders from Australia, Canada, the European Union, the United Kingdom, and the United States to create an International Alliance to End Homelessness.[1].

Structure

The current President and CEO is Nan Roman. She initiated, implemented and directed the initiative to end homelessness in ten years. She works with Congress and the Administration, as well as with cities and states across the nation [2].

History

While they achieved some success, the Committee decided to focus on the underlying causes of homelessness, including the lack of affordable housing. The resulting organization became known as the National Alliance to End Homelessness.[3]

In 2000, the Alliance released A Plan, Not a Dream: How to End Homelessness in Ten Years [4]. Since the release of this blueprint, there are 243 completed plans to end homelessness across the country [5].
