Next single = The Older I Get (2007) "Whispers in the Dark", often shortened to "Whispers", is a song by theChristian rock band Skillet, and it is the second single off their seventh album "Comatose". The song has achieved a large amount of popularity in both the mainstream and Christian radio. From the album's release to the Winterjam 2008 tour, the band opened their set with this song, though it was preceded by a short "rock out" session each time. When the band did this, it would start with some higher piano notes as the band came out, and John Cooper would quickly greet the crowd. After a few short notes from each instrument, John Cooper would say some form of the phrase, "Let's see those fists in the air!", and then would yell with the instruments in sync with him, "Make some noise!" The band would then just rock for roughly half a minute before slowing down, at which point Korey Cooper would begin the song's regular piano chords. The only other change they make in the song live is John Cooper screaming between the piano-only verse and the opening guitar solo. Videos of this performance can be found online. For the Comatose Tour, this song was been placed second in the set list. It has stayed there through the 2008 festival season.Music video
A music video was shot for this video at the same time as the video for "Rebirthing", and the two were released around the CD release roughly a month apart. The "Whispers in the Dark" video consists of the band playing in a dark room filled with rain and rose petals (whereas the "Rebirthing" video takes place in a very bright room with windows looking out to the sky). The video includes a closeup shot of Ben Kasica's guitar solo, one of many that have been complimented at Skillet shows. It also includes lead singer and bassist John Cooper's popular trick of swinging his bass around himself and catching it again. Both videos have received play on
Gospel Music Channel .The video has 4,116,351(currently) viewings on
