July 28 ,1919 inPhiladelphia, Pennsylvania ) is a former professionalAmerican football safety who played for theNew York Giants and thePhiladelphia Eagles in his 7-year NFL career from 1941 through 1951. He led the NFL in interceptions in 1947. Reagan playedcollege football at theUniversity of Pennsylvania .He also pitched for the University of Pennsylvania varsity baseball team. In 1939 famed sportswriter Grantland Rice called him one of the two best running backs in college football...the other being Tom Harmon of Michigan. Following a brief tenure as Assistant Coach at the Eagles, he went on to become Football Coach at Villanova University in 1954 staying in that position until 1959 when he was appointed Athletic Director. He remained in that position until 1961 when he went into partnership in an insurance brokerage firm in Norristown, PA . He died of complications of lung cancer at age 52 in 1972. He is enshrined in both the Northeast Catholic Boys HS Hall of Fame and the University of Pennsylvania Hall of Fame.
