- Zeme naga
Zeme Naga is one of the important Naga
tribe s inhabiting northeastern states ofIndia i.e.Assam ,Arunachal Pradesh ,Meghalaya ,Manipur ,Mizoram ,Nagaland , andTripura . Zeme Nagas are chiefly found in North Cachar Hills district of Assam. However, they have a sizeable population in Manipur and also in Nagaland. They have close ethnic/cultural affinity with three other cognet tribes, viz. Liangmei, Rongmei and Paomei Nagas of Manipur. A scanty population of these three tribes is also found in Nagaland. In Manipur, the Zemes and Liangmeis together are known as "Kachcha Naga", while the Rongmei Nagas as "Kabuis". During the early 20th Century, these tribes politically united into one group called "Zeliangrong" (Ze+Liang+Rong), drawing from the first syllable of the three important groups, i.e. 'Ze' from 'Zeme', 'Liang' from 'Liangmei' and 'Rong' from 'Rongmei'.
