Harvard Book Award

Harvard Book Award

The Harvard Book Award is an award given out by the alumni of Harvard University to the top-performing student(s) in 11th/12th grade reading classes in 1,900 "selected" high schools. The award has been handed out since 1910. [ [http://post.harvard.edu/clubs/html/prizebook.html Harvard Book Award at post.harvard.edu] ]

The award is handed out at traditional graduation ceremonies. The students with the highest grade point averages (GPA) will then receive the award. Many of the winners do not take it as a very "special" award, but just an encouragement from Harvard to get the student to register with them for college. Many receivers do not make it into Harvard.
