He was born on18 November ,1968 in Stornoway in theOuter Hebrides . He was educated at Paible School,North Uist , and theNicolson Institute ,Isle of Lewis .Alasdair Morrison worked for the
BBC inInverness ,Glasgow and Stornoway. He was employed as a news reporter and contributed to television and radio news programmes in both Gaelic and English. Until 1999, he was the Editor of the Gaelic newspaper, "An Gaidheal Ur ".Elected to the
Scottish Parliament in May 1999 as the member for theWestern Isles constituency, Alasdair served as Deputy Minister for Highlands and Islands and Gaelic and as Deputy Minister for Enterprise & Lifelong Learning and Gaelic in theScottish Executive until November 2001. Alasdair is a member of the Environment and Rural Development CommitteeScottish Parliament . He was re-elected as the Western Isles Member of the Scottish Parliament in 2003.He lost his seat in the 2007 election to
