Layla McCarter had 23 fights compared to Luna's two fights when they met, onDecember 6 . Luna suffered her first career loss, being dealt a four round majority decision defeat by McCarter, in Laughlin.During her first year as a boxer, Luna had three fights against opponents that, combined, had a total of 33 fights, or eleven fights per opponent, compared to her three fights as a professional boxer. The exception to the rule among those opponents was Howe, who was making her own debut when she lost to Luna. The fact that Luna faced Mohs and McCarter, who, combined, averaged 16 and a half fights against Luna's relative inexperience, on her very first year as a boxer, might underline a problem in women's boxing in that many times, young, new women fighters are put against more seasoned opponents, potentially putting the younger boxer's life at risk.
