Edward James McKenzie "Ed" Cowan (born
16 June 1982 ) is acricket er who has played for the British Universities, New South Wales and Oxford UCCE teams. He is aleft handed batsman who debuted in 2005 for the NSW Blues side. Edward earned his place in the State side after four seasons withSydney University . During this time Cowan averaged above 50 runs per game. A highlight of his career was his maiden first class century, scored against the touring Zimbabwe Test side, whilst he was playing forOxford University inEngland .Edward attended
Cranbrook School Sydney where he played in the school 1st XI aged only 14, and scored 218not out representing New South Wales at the Under-17 national championship. Whilst in Year 12 Edward was selected to play for the Australian under 19s side to tourSri Lanka .Cowan, sometimes called "Fast Eddie" because of his searing pace between the wickets, is currently playing for
Uddingston in the Scottish Premier League and scored 163 in his debut for the club on26 April 2008 . Cowan also plays for the Scottish Saltires and fared less well on his debut the following day, getting his favourite bat run over by a lawnmover during the warm up and then getting bowled for a duck by James Anderson.References
