Within the United Kindom's National Health Service (NHS) the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) is part of NHS Connecting for Health's Electronic Transmission of Prescriptions (ETP) programme The service handles prescriptions dispensed outside hospitals in England. The Electronic Prescribing or ePrescribing programme deals with prescribing within hospitals and mental health trusts. EPS Release 2 will remove the need for paper prescriptions and allow patients to nominate a pharmacy where their prescriptions can be sent automatically.
