Gary Green (baseball)

Gary Green (born January 14, 1962) was a Major League Baseball shortstop for the San Diego Padres, Texas Rangers, and Cincinnati Reds. He appeared in 106 games for his career with a .222 batting average in 180 at-bats. Green's father Fred Green had pitched for the World Series champion 1960 Pittsburgh Pirates team.

Green attended Oklahoma State University. He was selected three different times in baseball's amateur draft: a 29th round pick by the San Francisco Giants in 1980, a second round pick by the St. Louis Cardinals in 1983 and finally a first round choice of the Padres in 1984. Green's best season came in 1990 when he started 31 games at shortstop for the Rangers.

Green's best season came in 1990 when the Texas Rangers used him as their starting shortstop in 31 games. The most hits he ever recorded in a game came during that time when he was 3 for 4 against the Seattle Mariners in a 6 to 5 Rangers victory on Monday, August 20, 1990.
