The 2008 World Superbike racing season is the 21st season of the Superbike World Championship. Corona Extra is no longer the championship's title sponsor, as it had been since 1998cite web|url=http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/sport/sportresults/mcn/2007/august/august1-5/aug0307coronaendsuzukiandwsbsponsorship|title=Corona end Suzuki and WSB sponsorship|publisher=motorcyclenews.com|accessdate=2007-09-14] HANNspree takes over, from 2008 to 2010. The championship will now officially be known as "HANNspree SBK Superbike World Championship".cite web|url=http://www.roadracingworld.com/news/article/?article=30462|title=HANNspree Will Sponsor Superbike World Championship Through 2010, And Will Sponsor American Round At Miller In 2008|publisher=roadracingworld.com|accessdate=2007-10-23]

The Superbike World Championship will return to the United States on June 1, 2008, for the 2008 United States round of the Superbike World Championship. The round will take place at the Miller Motorsports Park near Salt Lake City, Utah.cite web|url=http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/Article_Page.aspx?ArticleID=5180&Page=1|title=World Superbike to Miller for 2008!|publisher=motorcycle-usa.com|accessdate=2007-09-14] This will be the first time SBK will race in the USA since the 2004 round at Laguna Seca. Superbike World Championship will share the weekend with the AMA Superbike Championship and its support classes. However to avoid direct comparisons between World Superbike and AMA Superbike, and because of sponsorship issues the 2 championships will race on different configurations of the circuit. World Superbikes will use the 3.048-mile Outer Track, while AMA Superbike and its support classes will use the 4.5-mile Main Track.cite web|url=http://www.roadracingworld.com/news/article/?article=30021|title=World Superbike And AMA To Run Different Courses During 2008 Event At Miller|publisher=roadracingworld.com|accessdate=2007-09-14]

The provisional championship calendar was made up of 15 rounds but the Indonesian round in Sentul International Circuit was removed from the final calendar.cite web|url=http://www.fim.ch/sec/documents/f_5339.pdf|title=Superbike & Supersport World Championships, Superstock 1000cc FIM Cup 2008 final calendar|publisher=fim.ch|accessdate=2008-03-04]
