Feenagh (Fíodhnach), which means woody place, is a village in west
County Limerick ,Ireland , ten miles fromNewcastle West and six miles fromDromcolliher . The village has one pub and one shop, which is located on the site of the formerRoyal Irish Constabulary barracks. The creamery built in the 1890s is now a garage, theCarnegie Library was built in 1917, and theNational School built in 1847 is now used as a community centre. The new national school was built in 1970. There are also twoholy well s in Feenagh, and there was a forge beside an old pub. The village originated as a settlement inCloncrew .Nollaig Ó Gadhra , RIP, who was a Gaelic language activist, journalist and historian was born in Feenagh. He had served as the President of Conradh na Gaeilge from 2004 to 2005 and was also a founding member ofTeilifís na Gaeilge .External links
