Greg Jones (born 1989) is an Australian tennis player.
Born in
Sydney , Jones is an only child. He is the son of Russell Jones, a quantity surveyor, and Donna Jones, a teacher. He competed in the Sydney GPS Schools tennis competition representing the Shore school, before eventually foregoing his school education to pursue his tennis career.Jones competed in a number of high profile events throughout his junior career including all four of the junior grand slams, most notably making the final of the
2007 French Open . Jones has also enjoyed success on theATP Challenger Series , reaching the final of a tournament inBurnie, Tasmania , before losing to Nathan Healy. Since the beginning of 2007, Jones has steadily improved his ATP ranking to well inside the top 500 in the world. Jones has also been announced as part of theAustralia Davis Cup team to compete in the September2007 Davis Cup tie inBelgrade againstSerbia , making his debut as an "orange boy".In 2007 Jones, having achieved a finals showing at the French Open, a semifinal at Wimbledon and a quarterfinal finish at the
