- Clay Eavenson
Capt. Clay Eavenson (full name: Samuel Clayton Eavenson) is a former professional minor league baseball player turned professional tournament fisherman and fishing charter captain. Most notable of his short professional baseball career with the New York Yankees is that he was the first ever home schooled high school athlete to ever be drafted into any professional sport directly out of highschool. He was selected by the New York Yankees in the 28th round of the 1996 professional baseball draft. He opted to play one year of college baseball at Dekalb College (now called Perimeter College) in Decatur Ga. prior to signing with the New York Yankees. His family also founded the first ever home schooled high school baseball team in the United States (The Gwinnett Barons in Gwinnett County Ga.).
He currently competes in professional redfish tournaments throughout the southern United States and is a full time fishing guide in Tampa Bay Florida.
