Emilio Núñez Portuondo (September 13, 1898 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA - August 19, 1978 in Panama) was a Cuban politician, lawyer, and diplomat. He was Prime Minister of Cuba in 1958.

Dr. Núñez attended LaSalle School in Cuba and graduated from law in 1919 from the University of Havana. He served as a Representative and Senator from the Las Villas Province and also as the Cuban Ambassador to Panama, Peru, Netherlands, Belgium and Luxemburg. He was a delegate to the Constitutional Convention of 1940. He also served as the Cuban Representative to the United Nations and as Minister of Labor.

Family

He was the son of General Emilio Núñez Rodriguez, a Vice President of Cuba, Governor of Havana and Minister of Agriculture; and the brother of the 1948 Cuban Presidential candidate, Dr. Ricardo Núñez. He was married three times and had five children, Emilio Núñez Blanco, Ricardo Núñez Garcia, Maria Stana Núñez Garcia, Dolores Brunilda Núñez Fábrega and Fernando Núñez Fábrega. His son, Emilio Núñez Blanco, was the second husband of Mirta Diaz-Balart (the first wife of Fidel Castro).He is buried in Panama next to his third wife, Panamanian Olga Fábrega Fábrega.
