high school in the North Kansas City School District.The school is located at 5815 NE 48 Street in Kansas City North, Missouri. Winnetonka opened in 1971. Originally built to hold 2,000 students, it now has just short of 1,700. Beginning in fall 2008, a number of students from Winnetonka High School, Oak Park High School, and North Kansas City High School will be transferred to the district's newest high school,
Staley High School . In addition, some of Winnetonka's students will be transferred toNorth Kansas City High School .Tonka's mascot is the
griffin (half-eagle and half-lion), and the school's colors are cardinal red and gold.The school's current principal is Mr. Matt Lindsey.

Winnetonka currently offers 3 diploma programs: a basic diploma, a "College Preparation" diploma, and a "Gold Medallion" honors diploma. Winnetonka also participates in the A+ Program.

PLMWinnetonka's theatre department was named most outstanding theatre department in the nation twice, and has taken part in the Edinburough Fringe Festival in Scotland.
The Symphonic band played at Carnegie Hall on April 6th, 2008, and has played all over the nation.
