Caledonia Opera House

Caledonia Opera House

The Caledonia Opera House or the Roper Block as it became known stood from 1850 to 1940 when it burned down in the fire of Argyle Street, Caledonia, Ontario, Canada. The building was not just an opera house but a variety store, a barber shop, and a place for Saint Andrews Lodge Hall. The opera house was not rebuilt after it burned down and marked the end of the theatre era in Caledonia.Verify source|date=May 2008 Caledonia does not have a place for a theatre to permanently stay and probably wont for some time. The Roper block definitely advanced the growth of the town into what it is today and even though the buildings gone the performances are still remembered by many.Verify source|date=May 2008
