1966 Tom and Jerry cartoon directed and produced byChuck Jones and co-directed byBen Washam . The title "Love Me, Love My Mouse" is a play-on-words of the phrase "Love me, love mydog ."Plot
Tom falls in love with a female cat and flies to her house, in a dreamlike trance, carrying a fuming Jerry in a ring box. Tom presents Jerry to his love interest. Jerry then pretends to be frightened of Tom and cuddles up to the female cat, who instantly sympathises with him, now taking sides with Jerry, as it was.
Jerry then makes every effort to work his way into Tom's mouth, leading to the female cat to come to Jerry's "rescue." Realizing Jerry is milking the sympathy for all its worth, Tom grabs the conniving rodent and tries to do away with him once and for all by crushing him with a safe, suspended in air by a rope that Tom is holding. The female cat storms in and marches towards Tom and rescues Jerry. Tom thinks he will get a nice hug from the female cat by standing arms open. However, in doing so, he released the rope suspended the safe above him. The safe comes crashing down on Tom.
A bandaged Tom hobbles to the dinner table to find his female cat repeatedly kissing Jerry. She then realizes that aside from being cute, Jerry is also quite tasty. She then has a change of heart, and proceeds to chase the mouse out of the house, while a smiling Tom looks on.
Notes
*This is the final cartoon to feature a love interest for Tom.
*One of the few Chuck Jones-era "Tom and Jerry" cartoons where Tom is the victor.
