Eva Mylott

Eva Mylott (1875 Tuross Head, New South Wales, Australia – c. 1920 New York City or New Jersey) was an Australian contralto opera singer.

Her parents, Patrick Mylott, an importer of wine and spirits, and wife Mary Heffernan, daughter of Edmund Heffernan and wife Honora ..., were immigrants from Ireland to Australia. [ [http://www.wargs.com/other/gibson.html Ancestry of Mel Gibson ] ] Mylott became a protégé of Dame Nellie Melba and in 1902 she went to Europe with her to pursue an opera career outside of Australia. Her cousin Maree Narelle was also a singer.

In New York, in 1917, she met and married businessman John Hutton Gibson and had two children, Hutton Peter Gibson, in 1918 and Alexis Mylott Gibson.
