12 February 1924 –4 May 1949 ) was an Italian footballgoalkeeper fromVado Ligure , Savona. He started his career off with home province side Savona. After a brief spell at Genoa he moved to Torino where he wonSerie A four times in a row.Bacigalupo came from a footballing family as his older brother
Manlio Bacigalupo also played. Valerio earned a call up to theItalian national football team five times. He died in theSuperga air disaster with most of the "Il Grande Torino" line-up.After his death, the club where he started his career at, Savona renamed their ground as "Stadio Valerio Bacigalupo" in his honour.
