United Kingdom for three-year-oldthoroughbred colts andgelding s. It was run over a distance of 7furlong s (1,408 metres) at Salisbury in April.It was previously run at
Ascot Racecourse and the most notable winner wasThe Minstrel in 1977, subsequent winner of theEpsom Derby , Irish Derby and King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes. The 1981 winner, Recitation, subsequently won thePoule d'Essai des Poulains . The 1984 running produced two outstanding milers; the winner, Rousillon, was the subsequent winner of the Waterford Crystal Mile in 1984, and theQueen Anne Stakes ,Sussex Stakes andPrix du Moulin de Longchamp in 1985, while the runner-up,Chief Singer , went on to win the 1984St. James's Palace Stakes ,July Cup , andSussex Stakes , on the disqualification of Rousillon.It was last run in 1986.
