Salisbury 2,000 Guineas Trial

The Salisbury 2,000 Guineas Trial was a Group 3 flat horse race in the United Kingdom for three-year-old thoroughbred colts and geldings. It was run over a distance of 7 furlongs (1,408 metres) at Salisbury in April.

It was previously run at Ascot Racecourse and the most notable winner was The Minstrel in 1977, subsequent winner of the Epsom Derby, Irish Derby and King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes. The 1981 winner, Recitation, subsequently won the Poule d'Essai des Poulains. The 1984 running produced two outstanding milers; the winner, Rousillon, was the subsequent winner of the Waterford Crystal Mile in 1984, and the Queen Anne Stakes, Sussex Stakes and Prix du Moulin de Longchamp in 1985, while the runner-up, Chief Singer, went on to win the 1984 St. James's Palace Stakes, July Cup, and Sussex Stakes, on the disqualification of Rousillon.

It was last run in 1986.
