Igor Toutchinski

Igor Toutchinski (born 1957, in Lviv, Ukraine) is a Canadian politician. He was the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario candidate in York Centre in Toronto for Ontario general election of 2007. Early life

Toutchinski was born in Lviv, Ukraine. In 1979, he graduated from Lviv University with a journalism degree [ [http://www.thestar.com/ontarioelection/ridings/candidateprofile/251740 TheStar.com - Election - Candidates - Igor Toutchinski ] ] . Until 1991, Toutchinski was living in Ukraine, as well as working for newspapers and some radio and television stations there.

Immigrant and Canadian citizen

In 1991, Toutchinski immigrated to Canada. For 12 years, he was working at local newspaper and radio companies. Toutchinski also made several worldwide reports on the political situation in Israel and on terrorist bombings in Moscow of 1999.

As an active participant in the community, Toutchinski served the League of Human Rights to fight anti-Semitism, human rights abuse and racism.

Political career

After obtaining Canadian citizenship, Igor Toutchinski joined Ontario's Progressive Conservative Party and also became its leader in the riding of York Centre in Toronto.

In 2006, Igor Toutchinski was a candidate for councillor of Ward 10 (York Centre) in the Toronto Municipal Election. He placed second among all seven candidates and collected 15.4% of votes.
