- Užičans
Užičans ( _sr. Ужичани, "Užičani") generally refers to the locals of the western Serbian city of Užice, its local discrict and the surrounding area. The Užičans today are a regional subgroup in Serbia; the majority declare Serbian nationality whilst many of the southern Muslims choose Bosniak or Muslim.
Notablity
Like all regional populations across the Balkans, the Užičans have their own traditional costume, and their own folk music; the sound of which is transitional between the music of Šumadija - central Serbia - and
Bosnia and Herzegovina .Užice as a city is one of a number of settlements in the former Yugoslavia to have once boasted its own state (the
Republic of Užice ). As such, their traditional dialect is noted as one of the key elements of the central South-Slavic diasystem. Its incorporation into Serbia (in or out ofYugoslavia ) however, is not damaging to the people's culture since all are agreed that they are Serbians, and that their local custom forms a part of the wider Balkan Slavic continuum.ee also
