Prior to her appointment as Minister for EU Affairs onOctober 6 ,2006 , she had served as aMember of the European Parliament since 1999. She is a member of the Liberal People's Party, part of theAlliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe .When she was MEP she was member of European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs. She was also a substitute for the
Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection .Cecilia Malmström was born in
Stockholm but grew up inGothenburg and inFrance . She speaks Swedish, English, Spanish and French fluently, and also decent German and Italian. She currently resides in Gothenburg with her husband and two twin daughters.During her time as MEP she also initiated the oneseat.eu web campaign [http://www.oneseat.eu/] , which aims to make the European Parliament permanently seated in
Brussels .Cecilia Malmström supports integration of Sweden to Eurozone and introducing the
