Education

Jackson was a graduate of Georgia State College.

Early career

President

In 1971, Jackson became the second alumnus to become president of Savannah State (Cyrus G. Wiley, the third president, was the first).

His administration was responsible for the establishment of the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps at Savannah State and the establishment of WHCJ, the university’s FM radio station. Jackson also oversaw institutionalization of the Title III program, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools re-accreditation and the construction of new buildings.

After serving as president Jackson returned to teach Mathematics at Savannah State until his retirement.
