Jackson was a graduate of Georgia State College.
Early career
President
In 1971, Jackson became the second alumnus to become president of Savannah State (
Cyrus G. Wiley , the third president, was the first).His administration was responsible for the establishment of the
Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps at Savannah State and the establishment ofWHCJ , the university’s FM radio station. Jackson also oversaw institutionalization of the Title III program, theSouthern Association of Colleges and Schools re-accreditation and the construction of new buildings.After serving as president Jackson returned to teach Mathematics at Savannah State until his retirement.
