The airline was established in
2002 , initially as aCyprus Airways subsidiary and the first flight was operated on24 June 2003 from Athens. At the end of the first year of operation they had completed 3855 flights and carried over 250000 passengers.Fact|date=June 2007 Due to heavy losses, Hellas Jet suspended all scheduled flights fromMay 10 2005 . InJanuary 2006 the airline announced it would refocus on charter operations. InAugust 2006 Cyprus Airways sold its shares to Air Miles, the trading name ofTrans World Aviation . The aim is to resume services later in2007 usingwet lease dAirbus A320 aircraft. It is wholly owned by Air Miles and has 199 employees (atMarch 2007 ).Hellas Jet is an IATA Member and has an unblemished safety record.
