- Stanko Karaman
Stanko Karaman (1889-1959) was a researcher on
amphipod s andisopod s. Several species are named after him, for example "Delamarella karamani " Petkovski, 1957 (Harpacticoida ,Latiremidae ), "Stygophalangium karamani " Oudemans, 1933 (Arachnida , "incertae sedis "), or "Macedonethes stankoi " Karaman, 2003 (Isopoda ,Trichoniscidae ).In 1926 he founded the
Macedonian Museum of Natural History inSkopje .There are several other researchers with the same name, that have also species named after them, for example:
* his son,Gordan S. Karaman , had also several taxa named after him, including "Coloboceras karamani " Bartsch, 1973 (Acarina ,Halacaridae ), "Autonoe karamani " Myers, 1976 (Amphipoda ,Corophiida ,Aoridae ), "Rhipidogammarus karamani " Stock, 1971 (Gammaridae ), and "Gordania " Berge & Vader, 2001 (Amphipoda,Stegocephalidae ).His second wife, Bozana Karaman, also worked as a zoologist, as do some other persons of the same family.
